Welcome to The Weekly Edit. A weekly column where I collate the best of new arrivals, outfit inspo for the week ahead and the latest in trending style. Sent weekly on a Monday evening.
I have written and re-written an intro for this week’s newsletter numerous times, but nothing I write seems to be the right thing to say. Because what can I say? Like so many, my heart has been hurting for the victims whose lives were lost and the families who have had their lives changed forever from the brutal act in Bondi over the weekend. This one feels really close to home because it is. As big as Sydney is, it is also a very small place. To any of my readers who have been affected or know someone who has, I am sending you all of my love and strength throughout this horrible time (and if there is anything I can do or share to help the families, please reach out to me in the comments or through direct message). I am also thinking of all of those who were shopping or working in the centre, many of who would have been uni students doing their weekend retail shift no doubt, who were faced with something that will undoubtedly take a long time to recover from. My heart goes out to all involved. ❤️🩹
Best of new arrivals
My top picks of what’s new and trending across retailers and brands.
1. Reebok x Anine Bing
1. Grey Joggers // 2. Black Bodysuit // 3. Sweatshirt // 4. Sneakers
One of my favourite launches of this week was Anine Bing’s highly anticipated collab with Reebok. I really love how they have infused their signature bold graphic logo with Reebok’s old school roots, creating a nostalgic collegiate collection featuring graphic sweatshirt co-ords with these retro high-top sneakers. I also love how they chose to include bodysuits over tank tops too. I personally prefer the look of a bodysuit when styling oversized sweatpants, so I was super excited to see this in there.
I’m not super big into big branded fashion these days, but I don’t mind them on a classic sweatshirt/sweatpant set. If this is your style though, there are more options including tees and biker shorts in this same collegiate graphic.
2. Effie Kats
1. Nikola Dress - Blue // 2. Nikola Dress - Ivory
Introducing the Nikola dress from Effie Kats. I am speechless by this dress!! It is THE perfect party mini for an engagement or hens party, or even a birthday dinner. The dramatic bow train at the back with the contrasting colour? So so good. If you have an event coming up and are looking for a main character moment without wanting to go OTT, this is the dress.
3. Sinai
1. Huggies // 2. Studs
One of my favourite small Aussie jewellery brands Sinai has released a bridesmaid jewellery 4 x pack collection this week, which honestly is such a great idea and not something I have come across before (and trust me - I have been through every corner of the internet with The Bridal Edit). They have a range of both huggies and studs in both silver and gold, so there’s options no matter what kind of metal or look you’re after for your bridal party. Even if you’re not getting married but are always looking for small gifts to keep on hand, this is a great ‘1 for you 1 for me’ kind of present.

4. Rat & Boa
1. Lorela Dress // 2. Ruba Slip Dress // 3. Asteria Dress // 4. Blanca Waistcoast // 5. Rodeo Dress // 6. Emmanuella Dress
Rat & Boa have released the Genesis collection - a small capsule of bridal pieces, mainly dresses. To be honest, there are some pieces in here that threw me off a little bit and I wasn’t expecting this from them. The tailored vest and pant set (above) and the Lilia Dress are a lot more conservative than what they normally put out. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike it! I am just surprised that they went in this direction, especially since they are known for more risqué dress styles. If you are a bride to be or have an event coming up that permits you to wear white, there is a gorgeous mix of both elegant and sultry styles in here.
If you have a big formal event like a 30th or 21st birthday coming up, my favourite piece from this collection is the yellow Asteria Dress - a dream!
5. With Jéan
1. Red Zip Hoodie // 2. 1800 Singlet // 3. Red Trackpants // 4. Brown Trackpants
One of the more cosy, practical new releases of the week is this 90’s cool girl tracksuit drop from With Jéan. The brown and red combo is such a refreshing and fun option to the typical grey/black/white rotation we so often see. While I love the all red combo, my personal favourite look is their 1800 singlet styled with these brown/red piped trackpants.
6. La Tribe
1. Ballet Flats // 2. Black Knee High Boots // 3. White Boots // 4. Brown Knee High Boots
New Zealand brand La Tribe is such a standout shoe brand for me when it comes to both quality and design. Their latest Autumn/Winter new arrivals includes classic styles that are guaranteed to see you through many seasons. I especially love the shape of their black knee high boot ‘Eloise’. It reminds me a little bit of this best selling boot from Coperni while also having a slight cowboy boot resemblance. Need!
7. Venroy
1. Trench Coat // 2. Wool Maxi Dress // 3. Wool Coat // 4. Jacket & Skirt // 5. Dress & Pants // 6. Mini Skirt
It’s hard to image there will ever be a time where Venroy releases something we don’t love. Their latest Lost in Japan collection features so many great classic silhouettes in a mostly neutral colour palette, which serve as great base pieces that you can build upon and add colour to. It was hard for me to narrow down my favourites, so I have included which seems to be the entire collection here (it’s not!). They have also dropped quite a few great Summer pieces in this collection too. If I was travelling to Europe this year, the beige stripe mini dress and white mini skirt would absolutely be coming with me.
This week in outfits
Outfit inspo for the week ahead.
Running errands/everyday
1. NAKEDVICE tee // 2. ARITZIA jeans // 3. 47 hat // 4. VEHLA sunglasses // 5. PRADA bag // 6. ANNA ROSSI earrings // 7. NIKE sneakers // 8. HENNE trench
In last week’s Ask Alexa, there were lots of requests for more everyday Winter outfit inspo. Here is a super simple outfit that you can establish as a uniform no matter the occasion - running errands, coffee with friends, a casual work day. Style without the hat to make it a little less casual and swap out the sneakers for boots to turn it into a night time look.
Day in the office
1. HENNE jeans // 2. COS shirt // 3. IZIPIZI glasses // 4. NAKEDVICE bag // 5. ALIAS MAE loafers // 6. NAKEDVICE coat // 7. MISSOMA earrings
Along with everyday outfits, office/workwear inspo was another big request. For Winter days in the office, you can’t go wrong with a jeans and loafer combination. On the days where it’s really cold, I would layer some sort of turtleneck bodysuit underneath this and leave the shirt tucked out. You could also throw a knitted vest over the top of the shirt for another layering option.
Mid-week dinner
1. SKIMS top // 2. VENROY skirt // 3. SINAI earrings // 4. COS x LINDA FARROW sunglasses // 5. LA TRIBE boots // 6. VENROY jacket // 7. BRIE LEON bag
I am so obsessed with this jacket and skirt set from Venroy (and this entire outfit in general)! I love to have a good co-ord set on hand for mid-week or Friday night dinners with friends. They’re especially handy on those nights where you’re just not sure of the dress code or what to wear as well. For a daytime look, style with sneakers instead.
Weekend drinks
1. ENTIRE STUDIOS jeans // 2. ENTIRE STUDIOS bodysuit // 3. FENDI sunglasses // 4. NAKEDVICE boots // 5. ZARA belt // 6. LIONESS jacket // 7. CLEOBELLA bag
For an edgier night out option, I loveee the vintage wash of these jeans and biker jacket combo a la Acne. Style with a western belt, an olive green bag and these popular Fendi sunglasses if you want to incorporate about 4 different current trends into the same outfit.
Save these outfits
Want to save these outfits for future use? I post everything on Instagram as well as my website where these links forever live. Newsletter subscribers see them first though, so they’ll be posted on other platforms throughout the week!
Saved style
A roundup of my favourite looks this week from the saved folder.
Helsa - Faille Halter Dress
While the Helsa Faille Halter Mini Dress is currently sold out and on pre-order, that hasn’t stopped it from popping up seemingly everywhere over the past couple of weeks. I love this style dress for Euro summer, and will be posting similar styles in my Euro outfit roundup (coming later this week!). For Autumn, style with cowboy boots and a cropped biker jacket instead.
Zendaya - Challengers Promo
If there’s one thing about Zendaya, it’s that she’s going to kill any and every red carpet assignment. The attention to detail her and stylist Law Roach put into each press tour look is what sets her apart amongst other celebs. These three looks were amongst my favourites from the week. I LOVE the tennis racket detail on this Thom Brown dress. And the tennis ball shoes? So cute. I love a good theme!
Leopard & Pink
One street style combo that I have seen out and about in the city this week (as well as all over my feed) is leopard print jeans being styled with baby pink jumpers, cardigans or sneakers. I personally would style this bold print with an equally bold colour such as red, but I love the feminine contrast a touch of pink also gives the look.
Rihanna - All Things Animal
Speaking of Leopard.. Queen Rih has spoken! Leopard print is certainly the pattern of choice at the moment, and what a way to make a statement about it.
Coachella - Miu Miu & Country/Western
Coachella has been dominating all of our feeds lately and if there’s one thing for sure, it’s that Miu Miu and Cowboy hats/boots have been the unofficial fashion sponsors. Here are just a couple of quick looks that I have loved and saved from the event so far. It seems this year that everyone really stripped it back and went for less ‘costumey’, over the top outfits and more everyday wearable, cool items. The one exception to this though is @ageorama in these hand-sewn button micro shorts. I love it when the fashion girls fashion!!!
Tip of the week
I love this video where Sophie Cohen talks about what wardrobe staples actually means for her. For some, simple colours and classic cuts certainly classify as their version of an everyday wardrobe staple. But if that doesn’t fit who you are, then that doesn’t mean it needs to be your style too! If you truly believe you will get more wear out of a hot pink blazer over a black one, then this is what you need to be buying.
I sort of already live by this philosophy but not to the amazingly bold extent that Sophie does. I will always try and find a unique cut of an ‘everyday classic’ that speaks to my preferred edgier style. It makes me feel more creative and confident when putting outfits together, which is the feeling I’m looking to achieve when getting dressed (what it’s all about!). These kind of items in your wardrobe are called personality pieces. So instead of looking for run-of-the-mill staples that you think you should be buying, try and find pieces that have a bit more of your personality injected into them and watch your wardrobe and style flourish as a result!
Until next week!
