Welcome to The Weekly Edit! A weekly newsletter where I collate the best of new arrivals, outfit inspo for the week ahead and the latest in trending style. Sent weekly on a Monday evening.
Top picks this week
My top picks across new arrivals and trending bits and pieces.
Happy Monday! There are a lot of mid-season sales that have started to kick off in the past week, meaning there hasn’t been too many new collection drops. In saying that though, there are some gems that I have come across and wishlisted, so let’s go through them!
1. Bayse x Molly King - Greenwich Blazer
Bayse launched their collaboration last week with stylist Molly King and the silhouettes are just *chefs kiss*. I am completely obsessed with this cinched waist blazer, which also comes in white.
2. Bayse x Molly King - Liberty Top & Manhattan Maxi Skirt
There are so many cool pieces from this collection (which you can browse here), but I also really love this off shoulder ruched top and maxi skirt combo. They’ve turned the skirt around to the side here but you can also wear it with the ruching at the front, which I would style with just a classic white tank and thong heels for a balmy night dinner. If you are heading into Summer or travelling to Europe - both pieces deserve a spot in your suitcase.
3. Jaded London - Leopard Fade Colossus Jeans
While these jeans have been out since March, they’re still one of my favourite leopard print jeans right now. Inevitably more brands will be releasing their own version over the coming months, but for now the wide leg, somewhat muted print (leopard can be so hit and miss) and the price tag are hard to beat!
4. Source Unknown - Ennio Faux-Leather Bomber Jacket
I’ve been digging deep lately into winter jackets and coats, and came across this vintage style navy bomber from Source Unknown that I’ve fallen in love with. They also have a burgundy version currently available for pre-order.
5. Adidas - Wide Leg Pants
Sporty glam is currently trending - which is basically just another made up way to describe track jackets, trackpants and football jerseys being styled with more formal pieces like blazers, silk skirts or jeans. These wide leg green satin Adidas pants are top of the list!
6. Amelie Teje - Belle Dress
Amelie Teje just released their gorgeous Belle dress in an all new black colourway and this is my idea of the perfect strapless LBD. Style with tights and a blazer for cooler weather or slides for warmer days. Another vacation suitcase staple!
7. Norma Kamali - Long Sleeve Pickleball Dress
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect base layer long sleeve dress to style when going out to dinner or parties with a blazer or cool oversized jacket over the top, and this one from Norma Kamali ticks all of the boxes (I love a turtleneck).
8. Henne - Sylvan Sweater
Unfortunately the pre-order for this style shut on Friday night (I’m certain they’ll bring out more stock), but this red jumper was an absolute standout for me in Henne’s newest AW24 drop. If you can’t wait til the next release, here is a similar, and much cheaper style from Glassons. Keep scrolling to the outfit inspo section of this post to see another similar style along with an outfit idea on how to style this for the office!
9. Friends with Frank - Alexandra V-Neck Knit
Continuing on with my knitwear hunt, this grey marle jumper caught my eye thanks to it’s slightly oversized and v-neck style which makes it easier to layer a button up or shirt underneath. Also, it looks sooo cosy. Bookmark this under Mother’s Day gift ideas too!
10. NBD - Najma Mini Dress
I’m currently in the middle of helping a good friend of mine plan for her 4 day hens/bachelorette weekend. The thing we’ve been struggling with is finding a good lace mini dress option - until I saw this drop on Revolve. It reminds me of the Effie Kats Nadia dress (that’s no longer available - but is to hire!)
I haven’t seen anything else quite like it, and I have an edit of thousands of bridal event outfits inside The Edit - so I know what’s out there! I anticipate that is going to be sold out in no time.
PS - I genuinely forget to mention The Edit so if you’re wondering what that is - The Edit is an app I’ve created that’s available for all of my paid Substack subscribers. It’s a resource where you can save the outfits and products I post in here to come back to at any time, as well as access additional edits I’ve created like The Bridal Edit and The Wedding Guest Edit with hundreds of outfit options in each. You can read more about it on the landing page here. All you need to do is upgrade to a paid Substack subscription and you’ll be sent an email with how to access it!
11. Kookai - Brooklyn Pouch
This Bottega style bag from Kookai is high on the hit list and is the perfect evening clutch if you’re on a budget! They’ve also made it in black.
12. Alias Mae - Mid Season Sale
From top left: Pierre, Piper, Issy, Pierce
PSA - Alias Mae has started their mid season sale (and tons of your favourite brands are also on sale today for Earth Day). Check your wishlists to see if the styles you’ve been eyeing off are included (and don’t fall for the sale fomo pressure!)
This week in outfits
Outfit inspo for the week ahead.
Running errands
As I mentioned before, I am loving the sporty glam/track jacket trend atm, so here is an idea on how to style it. For a bit of a contrast, I went with a sporty on top, preppy on the bottom look and I am loving it!!!
Work
I’m clearly very into primary colours this week. I wanted to style this Henne sweater that wasn’t just your typical jeans and ballet flats, and ended up coming across this outfit on Revolve when I was looking for a similar in-stock sweater. I’d also style with knee high sheer socks for the ultimate preppy vibe. If mini skirts aren’t appropriate in your office, swap out for pinstripe pants or a maxi skirt instead.
Friday night drinks
This would be my version of the perfect first date outfit. By switching up what you would typically consider wardrobe basics with trending styles or different materials (like this mesh top), you can put together a muchhh more interesting outfit. Add in some personality pieces with your accessories (like leopard or your favourite coloured bag) to make this outfit more you!
Sunday brunch
This Lioness coat was such a hit on my Friday shopping guide post, so here is just one of the ways that I would style it aside from the obvious denim jeans and a tee combo. I think it’s such a fun pop of colour to an otherwise very neutral outfit. Also, this Racquet Club collection from Stax debuted a couple of months ago but I still think it’s so relevant, especially with tenniscore still very much having a moment!
Trending style
A roundup of current styles I’m loving and trend predictions from my saved folder.
1. Track pants
For more ideas on how to style the adidas trackpants, I love these two outfits that popped up on my explore page over the weekend!
2. Victoria Beckham’s 50th Birthday Party
All this talk about Sporty glam naturally brings me to this post - a mini spice girls reunion at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday party over the weekend (also.. I’m obsessed that DAVID is the fan girl in this video!)
There has been some controversy in the comments (shock horror) over how sheer her gown is and the black high waisted briefs underneath, but I think this was 100% the right choice and makes the outfit so sexy. I rate the entire family a 10/10 here - they absolutely nailed it.
3. New Balance 1906L Loafers
New balance has just recently launched a controversial version of their 1906L sneaker in a loafer, firmly cementing their place in ugly shoe history. I am obviously not a fan, but hats off to the bold souls who are brave enough to rock them.
4. Balenciaga City Bag
In case you haven’t heard or seen this week, Balenciaga is re-launching their popular 2000’s style - the City Bag. This bag was an absolute icon in the early 2000’s and has popped up everywhere again over the last couple of weeks after Kate Moss was ‘spotted’ wearing it after a round of PR seeding. For those who already own one, fashion lovers reportedly have been quick to remove it from their dust bags and are wearing it out again in major cities like Paris and New York. If you’re wondering what the general consensus to this is online after the Balenciaga-is-cancelled controversy, many comments are already saying they will support Nicolas Ghesquière’s Balenciaga, but not Demna’s. This sentiment, coupled with Gen Z’s obsession with all things 90’s/early 2000’s and the rising demand for vintage items, may actually turn into the brand revival Balenciaga has been holding out for.
If you’re looking to pick one up secondhand, many sites like Vestiaire Collection and even The Iconic have some styles for sale.
Tip of the week
Enable 3rd party cookies or use another browser
I have so many browser extensions and points hacks set up when it comes to online shopping, but aside from Googling ‘brand name discount code’ - I never thought to turn to TikTok for influencer codes until this video popped up on my FYP. Genius.
Until next week!
